    • Dinosaur fans can swap a city afternoon for Drumheller and the Royal Tyrrell Museum, about 1.5 hours east by car.
    • In July, give the Calgary Stampede a full day or evening rather than squeezing it in.

    3. The Plus 15 network is a lifesaver for navigating downtown during the freezing winters
    4. Visit during July for the Calgary Stampede, but book accommodations months in advance
    5. Renting a car is the best way to take day trips to nearby Banff and the Rocky Mountains
